Movement after 50: support function and everyday capacity.

Movement is one of the best-studied components of healthy ageing. The goal is not a perfect fitness plan but a sustainable mix of activity, strength, endurance, mobility and professional guidance where appropriate.

Strength is about function

Strength training can support everyday functions such as standing up, carrying and climbing stairs. Individual training should fit health status, experience and capacity.

Endurance and daily movement

Walking, cycling, swimming and other endurance activities can be part of an active lifestyle. WHO emphasizes that all movement counts and less sedentary time is generally beneficial.

Balance and safety

Balance and fall prevention may become increasingly relevant with age. Symptoms, uncertainty or known conditions call for individual professional assessment.
